Almost all of this year’s Illinois corn crop is now out of the ground.
According to Sunday’s U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Illinois Crop Progress and Condition Report, 91 percent of the corn has emerged , compared to the five-year average of 78 percent.
Corn condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 39 percent fair, 42 percent good and 8 percent excellent.
Soybeans planted reached 96 percent, compared to the five-year average of 77 percent. Soybeans emerged reached 89 percent compared to the five-year average of 63 percent.
Soybeans condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 41 percent fair, 42 percent good and 9 percent excellent.
Winter wheat headed was at 98 percent, compared to the five-year average of 94 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 49 percent good and 16 percent excellent.
