Some of the school districts with levies and bonds on the ballot included Parma City School District and Beachwood City School District.
Several school districts across Northeast Ohio are asking voters to consider levies or bond issues on the ballot during the 2023 primary election on Tuesday, May 2.
3News compiled a list of some of the key school levies on the ballot in Northeast Ohio and has broken down the issues by county.
Ashtabula County
Conneaut Area School District: Proposed tax levy
- The Conneaut Area School District is asking for residents to approve a 2 mill tax levy that will go towards general permanent improvements within the school district.
Cuyahoga County
Beachwood City School District: Proposed bond issue
- A proposed bond issue in the Beachwood City School District will be on the May 2 ballot for $65 million to be repaid over the course of 37 years. If passed, the money will go towards constructing and furnishing a new elementary school as well as renovating and improving other district buildings and facilities.
Garfield Heights City School District: Combined levy and bond issue
- Garfield Heights City School District is placing a combined 8.6 mill issue on the ballot. The combined levy and bond issue for $19.5 million will go towards constructing, furnishing, renovating, remodeling and improving school district buildings and facilities as well as general permanent improvements.
Parma City School District: Proposed bond issue
- The Parma City School District is placing a $199 million proposed bond issue on the ballot in May. If passed, the money would go towards constructing, furnishing and equipping a new high school as well as improving other school district buildings and facilities. The bond will be repaid over the course of 36 years and will cost owners of a $100k home approximately $11.67 per month.
Lorain County
North Ridgeville City School District: Proposed bond issue
A $190,025,000 proposed bond issue is being placed by the North Ridgeville City Schools Board of Education on the ballot in May. If passed, the money would go towards constructing adding to, renovating, remodeling, furnishing, improving and equipping district buildings. The bond would be repaid over 37 years.
Medina County
Brunswick City School District: Proposed bond issue
The Brunswick Board of Education is placing a $102 million bond issue on the ballot in May. If passed, the funding would go towards constructing, furnishing and equipping a new high school as well as improving other district buildings and facilities. If approved, construction would begin in 2024 and the bond issue would cost the owner of a $100k home approximately $7.00 per month.
Buckeye Local School District: Proposed bond issue
An $80 million bond issue is being placed on the ballot for voters in the Buckeye Local School District. If passed, the funding would go towards constructing a new seventh through 12th grade building. Te bond would cost the owner of a $100k home approximately $16.33 per month.
Portage County
Ravenna City School District – Proposed Tax Levy
A 6.9 mill, five year tax levy is being placed on the ballot for residents in the Ravenna City School District. If passed, the money will go towards current expenses in the district.
Stark County
Canton City School District: Proposed Bond Issue
The Canton City School Board is placing a $60 million bond issue on the May 2 ballot. If passed, the bond will fund the construction, renovation, remodeling and furnishing of creating two new elementary school sites as well as district buildings and facilities. The bond would be repaid in 36 years.
Lake Local School District – Proposed tax levy
Lake Local School District residents will vote on a 13 mill tax levy during May’s primary election. If passed, the funding will go towards current expenses for the district.
Perry Local School District – Proposed tax levy
A 7.3 mill, five-year tax levy will be on the May 2 ballot for residents in Perry Local School District. If passed, the levy will provide funding for emergency requirements.
Summit County
Mogadore Local School District- Proposed tax levy
A 9.9 mill tax levy is being placed on the ballot for residents in the Mogadore Local School District. If passed, the levy will provide funding for emergency requirements.
Springfield Local School District – Proposed tax levy
Voters in the Springfield Local School District will have a 3.77 mill, five-year tax levy placed on their ballot. The purpose of the levy is to provide funding for emergency requirements.
